LCAD property search
The main public tool for looking up a property is the Lubbock Central Appraisal District search. Use the search tool to pull up a parcel by owner name, address, property ID, legal description, value, or tax year.
If you want to narrow results before you search, have these details ready.
- Owner name, business name, or owner ID
- Street number, street name, city, or ZIP code
- Property ID or CAD ID
- Legal description details such as abstract, subdivision, block, tract, or lot
- Tax year
Once you open the property record, review the assessed value and bill details shown for that account. LCAD states that payment and value information is real time, and it recommends verifying details against original records if something looks off.
- Open the property search and enter the strongest identifier you have.
- Review the matching property record for assessed value, market value, situs address, and owner information.
- Check the bill area for the amount due before making a payment.
- Use the same property record if you need to continue to payment.
Important: Your payment is not complete unless you receive a confirmation number.
Property and tax information files
If you need more than a single property lookup, use the Property and Tax Information page. It groups appraisal files, collection files, Property Tax Assistance Division materials, Truth-in-Taxation items, and tax rate worksheets for Lubbock County and other local taxing units.
This is the better place to go when you need published tax rate worksheets, broader tax information by taxing unit, or collection-related files instead of one property record.
Pay a property tax bill
Lubbock Central Appraisal District accepts property tax payments online, by phone, by mail, and by drop box. To pay online from a desktop or mobile device, first locate the property in the search system, then open the bills area for that account and continue to Certified Payments.
The payment options and charges below are listed for property tax payments.
| Payment method | How it works | Fee |

LCAD says 2025 taxes become delinquent on February 1, 2026. A 7% penalty and interest charge is added on February 1, then penalty and interest continue to increase by 2% on the first of each month until July. On July 1, delinquent real property taxes incur a 12% penalty, 6% interest, and 20% collection penalty. On April 1, delinquent personal property taxes incur a 20% collection penalty.
If the property is your residence homestead, LCAD says you may qualify for a payout agreement once taxes become delinquent on February 1, 2026.
Exemptions, protests, and updates
LCAD handles homestead exemptions, disability and veteran exemptions, property protests, and many property record updates. There is no charge to file for an exemption.
For exemptions, LCAD says a general homestead application may be filed between January 1 and April 30 of the tax year, and a late homestead exemption may be filed up to two years after the date the taxes become delinquent. Applications and supporting documents may be returned by email, fax, mail, or in person.
If your property information is wrong, LCAD directs you to contact its office. If you disagree with an appraised value, you should file a formal protest. LCAD encourages use of its online inquiry and protest process, and the protest deadline is May 15 or 30 days after the notice was mailed, whichever is later.
You can also use LCAD forms for ARB matters, exemptions, renditions, special appraisal forms, and collection forms. For business personal property, rendition filings are due on or before April 15, with written extension options described by LCAD.

Common questions
How do I look up a property tax bill in Lubbock County?
Start with the LCAD property search and look up the account by owner name, address, property ID, legal description, or tax year. Open the matching property record and review the bill details shown there. If you plan to pay online, continue from that property record into the bills area.
Where can I find tax rate worksheets and broader tax documents?
Use the Property and Tax Information page on the LCAD website. It groups tax rate worksheets, appraisal files, collection files, and other property tax materials by taxing unit. That page is better for broader tax information than a single-property search.
What should I do if the property details or value look wrong?
Contact Lubbock Central Appraisal District at (806) 762-5000 or [email protected]. If you disagree with the appraised value, file a formal protest instead of waiting. LCAD says the protest deadline is May 15 or 30 days after the notice was mailed, whichever is later.
Can I pay Lubbock County property taxes by phone?
Yes. LCAD accepts phone payments through Certified Payments at (800) 231-6584. Have the property QuickRef ID ready, and make sure you receive a confirmation number before treating the payment as complete.
Who handles complaints about property tax procedures?
The Taxpayer Liaison Officer handles written complaints within the board’s jurisdiction. In Lubbock County, that contact is Monica Buescher at [email protected] and (806) 776-2208. Use that route for complaint issues rather than routine payment or search questions.
