This page helps you find Court Records in Lubbock County, Texas using the main official access points for county and district court information. It shows where to search online, what records are available there, and when to use the clerk offices instead.

Lubbock County Public Access is the main online starting point for this task. This site is independent, does not provide legal advice, and cannot guarantee results, so use official county resources for decisions and record requests.

Lubbock County Public Access

The main online route is the county’s public court records portal. It supports registered user access for certain public court case information.

You can start here to create an account or sign in: open the official court records portal.

  • Create a free registered user account.
  • Watch for the email validation link after registration.
  • Validate your email within 3 days.
  • Sign in and use the case index to review available case details.

Important: The portal requires JavaScript and cookies, so it may not work if your browser blocks either one.

What the online portal includes

Online access currently covers County Clerk and District Clerk records. Justice of the Peace records are planned for future release as implementation continues.

For registered users, the portal provides the case index with general case details, parties, attorneys, and scheduling information. Document images are not included with standard registered access.

Attorneys can view unrestricted civil, family, and criminal court records on file with the District Clerk and County Clerk. The District Attorney’s eDiscovery records are handled separately.

Use the right clerk office

Lubbock County splits court record duties between the County Clerk and the District Clerk, so the right office depends on the case type you need.

  • The County Clerk handles county court civil, criminal, and probate or guardianship records.
  • The District Clerk is the custodian for district court pleadings and papers in civil and criminal matters and also supports family law records.
  • Justice of the Peace offices handle JP matters, but those records are not yet available through the county’s online public access system.

Copies and courthouse access

If you need copies or documents that do not appear in the portal, use the courthouse access route or contact the correct clerk office. Public access computers are available at the Lubbock County Courthouse, 904 Broadway, Lubbock, TX 79401.

Those courthouse terminals can be used to search court records, view documents, including some documents that may not be viewable online, and request copies from the custodian of record.

For County Clerk case copies, the office gives copy cost information after you provide the case number. Civil, criminal, and probate copy requests each use that case-number-first process, and certified copies add an extra certification fee.

County Clerk copy requests

For County Clerk records, the office does not conduct civil, criminal, or probate searches by phone and does not search by name for the existence of a case. Have the case number ready before requesting copies.

  • Civil copies: call (806) 775-1048 to verify copy cost before requesting copies.
  • Misdemeanor criminal copies: call (806) 775-1046 to verify copy cost before mailing a request, or call (806) 775-1044 before using the online copy payment route.
  • Probate or guardianship copies: call (806) 775-1047 to verify copy cost before requesting copies.
  • Plain or certified copies are $1.00 per page, with an additional $5.00 certification fee if requested.
  • Online credit card payments add a vendor fee of $2.50 or 2.95%, whichever is greater.

You can also use the approved payment page for County Clerk copy transactions after confirming the amount with staff: pay for County Clerk copies online.

Common questions

Can I search all Lubbock County court records online?

No. The online public access system currently includes County Clerk and District Clerk records. Justice of the Peace records are expected later, so JP matters still need to be handled through the appropriate precinct office.

Do I need an account to use the court records portal?

Yes. The county directs users to create a free registered account for access to certain public court case information. After registering, you must validate your email within 3 days before using the account.

Will the online portal show document images?

Not with standard registered user access. Registered users can view the case index, general case details, parties, attorneys, and scheduling information, but no document images. For documents, use the courthouse public access computers or contact the proper clerk.

What should I do if I need copies but do not have a case number?

For County Clerk civil, criminal, and probate matters, the office does not search by name for the existence of a case and does not provide those searches by phone. Your next step is to use the online portal or courthouse public access computers to identify the case first, then contact the clerk for copy costs.

Where can I view records that are not available online?

Go to the public access computers at the Lubbock County Courthouse, 904 Broadway, Lubbock, TX 79401. Those terminals can be used to search records, view documents that may be restricted from online viewing, and request copies from the record custodian.
