This page helps users handle a Property Tax task in Hamilton County, Indiana, including how to search property tax records, review balances, pay taxes, and find the right county office for help.
The main online tool is Hamilton County’s Property Reports and Payments application, which connects property reports, tax payments, ownership details, deductions, transfer history, assessed values, and property record cards.
Property Reports and Payments
Use the Hamilton County Property Reports and Payments application to search property tax and assessment records, view payment information, and print available reports.
You may search with one of these property identifiers or address details:
- County Duplicate Number, entered as a 16-digit number with or without spaces, dashes, or decimals
- State Parcel Number, entered as an 18-digit number with or without spaces, dashes, or decimals
- Property Address, using the house number without fractions or dashes
- Mailing Address, using the house number without fractions or dashes
After searching, review the listed results carefully because different reports may reflect information as of different dates.
- Search for the property using a supported number or address field.
- Select the property or parcel that matches your record.
- Open the tax, payment, ownership, assessment, or report area you need.
- Print tax statements, comparison reports, or property record cards when available.
Use a modern browser. Hamilton County notes that Internet Explorer is no longer supported and may not show all available information.
Online tax payments and reports
The Property Reports and Payments application can be used to make online payments, view current balance due, review previous tax payments, and access three years of tax statements. The county’s Pay Taxes Online and Reports page explains the online payment route.
To pay online, select the property or parcel, go to the Tax and Payments area, open the Payment Details page, and choose the “Pay Now” button. You will be transferred to a secure payment site to enter and process the payment.
A convenience fee applies to online payments. Hamilton County states that online payments may take 2 to 3 business days to be recorded on the property record and online.

Assessed values and property record cards
The Hamilton County Assessor’s Office handles real and business personal property assessment, appeals, reassessment, sales disclosure, omitted property, and certification of current assessments to the County Auditor’s Office.
Property record cards can be obtained through the Property Reports and Payments application under Property Assessment, through a Satellite Office, or through the County Assessor. Property owners are encouraged to check the assessment property record card for errors.
Form 11 Notices of Assessment are mailed by April 30. For the January 1, 2026 assessment, the Assessor’s Office uses sales from January 1, 2025 to December 31, 2025 for comparison. The appeal deadline is June 15, 2026.
Deductions, credits, and estimates
Property tax deductions can be filed online or in person with the Hamilton County Auditor’s Office. Filing a deduction may affect the next tax bill if the desired deduction is filed by January 15.
Once approved, deductions generally do not need to be refiled unless there is a deed change, marriage, or change in property use. Available deduction and credit topics include Blind and Disabled Credit, Over 65 Age Credit, Recorded Land Contract Benefits, Standard Homestead, and Ineligible Homestead Certification Form.
For tax bill estimates, Hamilton County directs users to the State Tax Bill Estimator and notes that the assessed value is needed. Assessed value may be found on the comparison statement with the tax bill, the Annual Assessor’s Notice of Assessment, or the Comparison Report tab of the Property Card Report.
If deductions have been added or removed and you need a property tax estimate, the Auditor Adjustment Department accepts requests through its Request for Review Form. Estimates are returned by email within 24 to 48 hours.
Auditor and real property records
The Hamilton County Auditor’s Office maintains property tax maps and ownership records for the county. The Real Property Department processes deeds before they are recorded by the Hamilton County Recorder.
For deed approval, the deed must include the required owner information, full legal description, notarization, tax mailing address, and either an Indiana State Sales Disclosure form or an exempt stamp from the Assessor’s Office. The Auditor charges a $10 fee per parcel, payable by cash or check only.
The Real Property Department has a strict 4 p.m. recording deadline. Deed processing starts at the 2nd Floor Assessor’s Office, continues to the 1st Floor Real Property Department, and then goes to the 3rd Floor Recorder’s Office for recording.
