Will County Supervisor of Assessments Property Search Portal
The Will County Supervisor of Assessments provides several ways to search for property records online. Use the option that matches the information you already know.
- Search by PIN, also called a Parcel ID or Property Index Number.
- Search by property address.
- Search by sale date or sale amount.
- Search by subdivision.
- Search by owner name.
- Search by property class.
For the most common lookup paths, use the property address search or the PIN search.
Check the results carefully. Property figures are compiled from data provided by Local Township Assessors, so questions about accuracy should be directed to the Local Township Assessor for the property.
Search by property address
The Address Search lets you look up Will County properties by the property address maintained by Will County 9-1-1. You do not need to enter both a street number and a street name.
- Street Address Number, if known.
- Street Name, if known.
- City or Town, if you want to narrow the search.
Partial entries can return broader results. For example, entering only a street number can display parcels containing that number, and entering only a street name can display parcels containing that street name.
- Go to the Will County Address Search.
- Enter the street number, street name, city or town, or a useful combination of those fields.
- Review the matching parcels and open the result that matches the property.
If the property address appears incorrect, Will County directs users to Will County 9-1-1 for address assignment and verification.
Search by PIN or Parcel ID
The PIN Search is used when you have the Property Index Number, Parcel ID Number, or parcel number for the property. A full PIN can be entered, or a partial PIN can be used to find parcels that start with the same number sequence.
- Full PIN, such as 11-04-04-321-002-0000.
- Partial PIN, such as 11-04-04, for broader matching results.
The search page states that dashes are not required when entering the parcel number.
- Go to the Will County PIN Search.
- Enter the full or partial Parcel ID.
- Review the search results for the matching property.
Understanding the Will County PIN
A PIN stands for Property Index Number. It is assigned to the legal description for real estate in Will County, including vacant lots, parking spaces, and condominium common areas.
The PIN is used for assessments, tax rate calculations, and tax collections. Will County notes that the PIN is important because paying taxes on the wrong PIN can leave the taxes on the property you own delinquent.
Your real estate tax bill has a 16-digit parcel number. Other documents may show a 14-digit or 16-digit version. The 14-digit version omits the first two digits, also described as the computer code.
When paying taxes or checking property information, match the PIN on the tax bill to the PIN on the deed. If a deed contains only a legal description, the Mapping Department in the Supervisor of Assessments Office can find the PIN.
Maps and GIS property layers
The Will County GIS Data Viewer provides map-based access to current county GIS data. It includes more than 70 map layers, including parcels, address points, buildings, aerial imagery, taxing districts, townships, municipalities, zoning, school districts, and other county map layers.
Use the GIS Data Viewer information page when you need map context beyond a basic assessment search.
Assessment, tax bill, and recorded deed roles
The Supervisor of Assessments Office is the official source for property assessments and exemption information. It also provides the Property Search Portal for current assessment lookups.
Questions about a property tax bill should be directed to the Will County Treasurer. The Treasurer’s Office also provides information about PINs, payments, address and name corrections, delinquent taxes, mobile home taxes, tax sale information, and taxpayer reports.
For recorded real estate documents, the Will County Recorder of Deeds is the repository for documents recorded in Will County since 1836. The Recorder handles recording and indexing of real estate documents, UCCs, military discharges, and other submitted documents.
Address and name correction for tax bills
To change only a mailing address on a tax bill, the owner of the property must complete the Treasurer’s address and name correction process. If someone other than the owner signs, the submission must include authorization to act for the owner.
To change only the name, or both the name and address, Will County requires supporting documents such as a recorded deed or recorded document, a will, marriage license, divorce decree, or a bank trust letter.
Correction materials may be submitted through the county website, mailed, placed in the drop box, delivered in person, faxed, or emailed to the Treasurer’s Office. Use the address and name correction form for that process.
