This page helps with Indian River County, Florida property tax tasks, including finding a bill, checking payment timing, and knowing which office handles tax questions.

The Tax Collector's Office of Indian River County provides the Property Tax Search for current-year bill lookup and payment, while the County Property Appraiser handles value, exemption, and mailing address matters.

Property Tax Search and payment center

Use the official Property Tax Search to view and pay a current-year Indian River County property tax bill. The search page is for property tax accounts and includes a bill-viewing option.

  • Tax type
  • Alternate Key
  • Combined tax and assessment

After you have the account details, use the bill tool to review the account before paying.

  • Open the search and pay a property tax bill page.
  • Enter the requested tax information for the current tax year.
  • Select the bill-viewing option to review the account.
  • Use the payment option if you are ready to pay.

Payment note: Credit Cards, Apple Pay, and Google Pay are initially validated with a $0 authorization and then processed on the following business day.

Bulk payment option

The payment center supports a bulk add feature when you need to pay more than 10 accounts at once. That feature allows an upload list of up to 500 accounts and requires login.

Real estate property tax bills

A real estate tax bill combines ad valorem taxes and non-ad valorem assessments. Ad valorem taxes are based on property value and improvements. Non-ad valorem assessments are based on other factors, such as acreage.

The Tax Collector bills and collects revenue for local government agencies. Questions about assessed value, how value is determined, or exemptions go to the County Property Appraiser.

Early payment discounts

Florida law allows discounts on current taxes paid before March of the following year. Discounts are based on the postmark of the payment.

Payment month Discount
November 4%
December 3%
January 2%
February 1%
March Gross taxes due with 0% discount

Installment payment plan

If the taxpayer qualifies, the installment plan allows property taxes to be paid in four payments instead of one. Real estate and tangible personal property taxes can qualify when the next year’s estimated tax bill is more than $100.

Applications for the 2026 tax year installment plan begin November 1, 2025, and must be submitted to the Tax Collector by April 30, 2026.

Installment due month Discount
June 6%
September 4.5%
December 3%
March No discount

Important: The June installment must be made to stay on the plan. Florida law allows a July payment after a missed June payment, but the 6% discount does not apply.

Delinquent real estate tax

Unpaid property taxes become delinquent on April 1 of the year after the tax year. For example, 2025 property taxes become delinquent on April 1, 2026 if unpaid.

Timing What happens
April 1 A 3% penalty is added to the gross tax.
May Accounts that remain unpaid are charged an advertising fee and advertised weekly for three consecutive weeks.
On or before June 1 If taxes remain unpaid, a tax certificate must be sold against the unpaid tax.

Exemptions, values, and mailing address changes

The County Property Appraiser handles exemption eligibility, assessed value questions, and mailing address changes for tax bills. Contact that office to apply for an exemption, check an existing exemption application, or update the mailing address used for the certified tax roll.

Homestead exemption applications require permanent Florida residency on January 1, and the application is due to the Property Appraiser by March 1. As of September 6th, all Homestead Exemption applications submitted will be for the 2027 tax year.

You can visit the County Property Appraiser property and exemption resources for property appraiser services.

Email bills and paid receipts

BillExpress lets property owners sign up to receive tax bills by email. Email bills are sent at the same time as paper bills for annual or quarterly payments, and the paper bill is still sent.

To sign up, search for the property through the payment center, select “Get Bills by Email,” and complete the required fields. Check for a confirmation email to finish the process.

Paid receipts can be printed from the payment center, or the Tax Collector's Office can assist by phone.
