This page helps you find, review, and pay Property Tax in Bexar County, Texas. It points you to the Bexar County Tax Assessor-Collector search tool, payment options, deadline pages, and the office that handles value or exemption issues.

This site is independent and does not provide legal, tax, or financial advice or guarantees. Use the official Bexar County Tax Assessor-Collector pages and the Bexar Appraisal District for final account, value, exemption, and payment details.

Find your tax account

Start here if you need a current balance, tax statement, receipt, parcel address, exemption snapshot, or payment page.

  • Owner name entered with the last name first
  • Business name entered by its first word
  • Property address entered as the street number and street name
  • 12-digit account number or Geo ID
  • 6-digit CAD Property ID
  • 8-digit fiduciary number

Open the Bexar County property tax account search, pick the matching search type, and enter the value in the format the county expects.

  • Select the search option that matches the information you have.
  • Enter the name, address, or number without extra punctuation or spaces the county says not to use.
  • Run the search and open the matching account.
  • Review the account page for the current year tax amount, property value, exemptions, last payment, payer information, statements, receipts, and payment options.

Tip: For owner-name searches, enter the last name first with no commas, dashes, hyphens, or periods. For address searches, enter the street number and street name only, without St, Dr, Ave, or Blvd.

Check for overpayments

Bexar County also provides a separate search for property tax overpayments. You can search by account number, owner name, address, or CAD reference number, and you can add a second search field to narrow the results.

Use the overpayment refund search if you want to check whether an account has money that may need follow-up with the tax office.

Pay online or by phone

You can pay through the county payment service after you locate the account. Credit card payments carry a 2.10% convenience fee, while e-check payments are free.

  • To pay by credit card online or by phone, have the 12-digit tax account number ready.
  • To pay by e-check, have the 12-digit tax account number, checking account number, and routing number from a regular U.S. checking account.
  • Electronic payments take 3 to 5 business days to process and post, but the payment is posted as of the online transaction date.

You can pay Bexar County property taxes online or pay by phone at (888) 852-3572.

Track dates and penalties

For the 2025 tax bill, the county calendar lists these payment dates and cutoffs.

Values, exemptions, and statements

The Tax Assessor-Collector collects the tax, but the Bexar Appraisal District sets property values, ownership, exemptions, and tax ceilings. If you disagree with the assessed value, the county says the protest deadline is May 15 or 30 days after the notice is mailed, whichever is later.

If you do not receive a tax statement, the tax, lien, due date, penalty, and interest rules still apply. You can request a duplicate statement from the Information Center at (210) 335-2251, review property tax information, or use the county’s e-statement instructions to switch future certified statements to email after you open your account.

If you need the adopted rate for a taxing unit, review 2025 official tax rates and exemptions.

Property tax contacts

The tax office handles payments, statements, walk-in service, and general property tax questions. The appraisal district handles value, ownership, address, exemption, and protest matters, and the assessing line handles manufactured home release-of-lien questions.

Common questions

How do I search for a Bexar County property tax account?

Use the county account search tool. You can search by owner name, business name, property address, account number or Geo ID, CAD Property ID, or fiduciary number. For owner names, enter the last name first. For addresses, enter the street number and street name only.

What can I see after I open an account?

The account page shows the account number, ownership, mailing address, parcel address, current year tax amount, property value, exemptions, last payment, and payer information. From the same account page, you can print statements and receipts, pay the bill, and register for e-statements.

When are property taxes due in Bexar County?

The county says taxes are due in October and must be paid by January 31 of the following year. If the bill is not paid on time, taxes become delinquent on February 1 and penalty and interest apply. Half-payment and qualified installment options can change how you pay, but each plan has its own deadlines.

Who handles value and exemption questions?

The Bexar Appraisal District handles appraised values, ownership, exemptions, tax ceilings, and protests. The Tax Assessor-Collector uses the value and exemption information certified by the appraisal district to assess and collect the tax. If you need to challenge a value, the county says the protest deadline is May 15 or 30 days after the notice is mailed, whichever is later.

What if I never received my tax statement?

Not receiving the statement does not change the validity of the tax, the lien, the due date, or any penalty and interest that may apply. Ask the Information Center for a duplicate statement at (210) 335-2251. You can also check the account online and register for certified statements by email for future bills.
