This page helps users handle Court Records tasks in Lake County, Indiana, including searching cases, understanding online access limits, and knowing when to contact the court or clerk.
The main public search tool is Case Search - MyCase. For certified copies, filings, judgments, orders, probate records, and court-record questions that require staff help, the Clerk of the Lake Circuit/Superior Court is the local office to use.

- Limit the search to Criminal & Citation, Civil, Family, Probate, Appellate, or Commercial when appropriate.
- Review the matching case results and court details.
Important: MyCase results are for public access and are not official court records.
Online case access limits
MyCase covers non-confidential cases in Indiana courts that use Odyssey. Electronic access is limited by federal law, state law, court rules, and court orders.
Information displayed online may contain errors or omissions. For an official court record, request it directly from the court that maintains the record.
The Indiana Courts Public Access portal also explains that online court information is made available as a public service and is not a substitute for an official record.
Lake County Clerk records and copies
The Clerk of the Lake Circuit/Superior Court is the custodian of the clerk’s record and seal. The office accepts filings, enters judgments and orders, receives money in an official capacity, makes certified copies of record, and keeps records of wills and matters of trust in probate proceedings.
For a copy of a document in a Lake County case, questions about a court hearing, or case-specific help that cannot be completed online, contact the local court or the Clerk’s Office.
The Lake County Clerk page provides local clerk information and public office locations.
Traffic tickets and online payment
For traffic violations or infractions, ePay Public Access can be used to learn how to pay a ticket or, when available, pay it online.
Ticket searches may use a Ticket (UTT) number, driver’s license number, or name and date of birth. Not all Indiana tickets are available through this service, and not all tickets are eligible for online payment.
If a ticket was issued less than 10 business days ago, it may not be in the system yet. If a second search and MyCase search do not locate it after 10 business days, contact the court where the ticket is filed.
Forms, filing fees, and self-help resources
Lake County provides clerk forms for several common local filings, including notice of claim forms. Filing-fee information is posted through the clerk’s court costs and filing fees page.
The Indiana Judicial Branch also offers a Self-Service Legal Center with general court forms and self-representation resources. Court staff cannot give legal advice, so legal questions should be directed to a lawyer or an appropriate legal-help resource.
