This page helps users find Court Records in Lake County, Florida, by explaining how to use the official online search, when records may be limited, and how to request access to records that are not immediately viewable.

Lake County court records are handled through the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court & Comptroller, including the ShowCase Web court records search and the Court Data & Records Division.

Search Lake County court records online

The main online option for Lake County court records is the Clerk’s ShowCase Web court records search. Public users can search without a username or password. Registered users can log in for greater access when their role allows it.

Useful search information may include:

  • Case number, if known
  • Last name and first name for a person search
  • Business name entered in the Last Name field
  • Search type, such as Exact, SoundEx, or Starts With
  • Citation number for citation searches

For a basic public search, follow the court records search screen in this order:

  • Accept the online court records search acknowledgement.
  • Open the Case Search option in ShowCase Web.
  • Enter a case number, name, business name, or other supported search information.
  • Choose the search type that fits the information you have.
  • Select the case number in the results to view available case details.

Search tip: For partial names, use the Starts With option with the percent symbol as a wildcard, such as SMI% for names beginning with those letters.

What online court records include

Court records can include the progress docket, case activity records, transcripts filed with the clerk, documentary exhibits in the clerk’s custody, and electronic, video, or stenographic records filed in court proceedings.

After opening a case in ShowCase Web, available tabs may include parties, charges, court events, dockets, sentences, arrests and bonds, linked cases, and fees or payment plan information. The exact information available depends on the case type and access rules.

The Clerk’s online court records page explains access limits, document availability, and the acknowledgement users must accept before searching.

Access limits and document images

Online access varies by case type, the year the case began, the user’s role, and the content of the document. Some court records may be viewable only by parties, attorneys of record, authorized government users, or others with approved access.

Most court records from 2003 to present can be accessed online after review and release. Cases before 2003 generally do not yet have document images attached. Criminal traffic images are not available before 2009, and civil traffic images are not available before 2013.

Some older files may have been destroyed under state retention rules before imaging, so no images will be available for those files. Sealed or expunged cases are not viewable through the public search.

Request document images and older records

If a docket entry shows a paperclip icon, the image has already been redacted and may be viewable based on your access level. If it shows a lock icon, the document must be requested for review before it can be viewed.

When requesting a locked document, you may enter an email address to receive notice when the image is available. Without an email address, you must check back in the case search system.

For older or unavailable records, users can submit a Request for Access to Court Record Form by email, mail, or in person. The Clerk also lists court record search and access forms for users who need a name search, access request, registered user form, or related records request form.

Registered user access

Registered users may receive greater access to some court records, depending on the user’s role, the case type, and the document content. There is no cost to register or use the court records service.

To become a registered user, complete the registration agreement and submit it to the Clerk’s Office by email, delivery, or mail. Parties to a case, attorneys of record, and certain business representatives may need a notarized signature.

The Clerk’s registered user information page explains how to submit the agreement and what to do if login access does not work.

Court record fees

Some searches and copy services have fees when handled by the Clerk’s Office. Payments for court record requests and searches may be made by personal check, cashier’s check, or money order. Credit card payments are not accepted for these requests.

Item Fee
Certifying document $2.00
Printed copies $1.00 per page
Search for court record $2.00 per calendar year, per name

Search issues and system notes

If the case search link does not work, search fields do not display, or login is difficult, clearing the browser cache may help. Windows users can press Control + F5. Apple or Mac users can press Shift + Command + R.

The online court records search works with current browsers and most mobile devices. Adobe Reader is required to view online documents, and pop-ups must be enabled to view documents.

Maintenance notice: System maintenance may occur daily from 9 p.m. to midnight, and access to parts of the website may be interrupted during that window.
