Online court record viewing
The Clerk & Comptroller states that online viewing is available for court records in County and Circuit Civil, County and Circuit Criminal, and Probate case types. Records made confidential by law or court order are excluded from public online access.
Additional documents may be available to registered users who complete a Registered User Agreement. The Clerk notes that Registration Agreements must be notarized.
Daily court docket
The Daily Court Docket is a separate Clerk resource for checking scheduled court events. The docket is subject to change, updates every 5 minutes, and events are removed approximately 2 hours after they end.
For a complete docket for the day, the Clerk directs users to the case management system.
Privacy and confidential information
Some records are not available online because they are confidential by statute or court order. The Clerk also provides a process for requesting removal of a social security number or complete bank account, debit, charge, or credit card number from an image or copy of a court document.
That request must be made in writing and must identify the case number, document title, and page number containing the information to be redacted. The Clerk states that no fee is charged for that redaction request.
Do not include sensitive numbers in court filings unless they are required by law, court rule, or necessary to the case.
Court divisions and related services
The Clerk’s court pages identify several divisions that handle different case types. Circuit Civil handles civil actions where the amount in controversy exceeds $50,000, along with matters such as foreclosures, injunctions, title and boundary actions, and other civil claims. County Civil handles claims from $8,000.01 to $50,000, evictions, small claims, and related civil matters.
Public computers for additional case information are available in the Courts Division on the second floor of the Kim C. Hammond Justice Center.
The Clerk also provides court forms and filing fee information for civil, family, criminal, probate, guardianship, traffic, and related court matters.
